Gold Hospital Cover

If you want top health insurance for you or your family then Gold Hospital cover is a great option that covers all hospital services, so you can rest assured that you’ll be covered for almost all unexpected hospital stays.

With Gold Hospital Cover, you’re fully covered for a private room in a public hospital or one of our GMF Health contracted private hospitals.

You can receive benefits for a comprehensive range of hospital services including:

• Maternity and a range of assisted reproductive services
• Joint replacement surgery
• Coronary/heart and cardiothoracic procedures
  Psychiatric care
• Major eye surgery

Cosmetic surgery and other treatment without an MBS item number

Procedures that do not attract a Medicare benefit only receive accommodation benefits which are equivalent to the cost of a shared room in a public hospital. No other benefits are payable. No benefit is payable for Bronze Hospital members.

How do I find out if I am covered for the medical gap?

We can tell you if your referred Medical Practitioner is fully covered by GMF Health. Simply call us on 1300 653 099 BEFORE you arrange a hospital stay.

Choose an optional excess

With Gold Hospital cover, you can add an excess. This means you pay a lower health insurance premium, but you’ll pay an excess for any overnight hospital stays within each calendar year. We have three excess options available: 

• $100 per member up to a maximum of $200 per couple/family membership per calendar year. 
• $300 per member up to a maximum of $600 per couple/family membership per calendar year. 
• $500 per member up to a maximum of $1000 per couple/family membership per calendar year.

And of course, if you don’t have an overnight hospital stay you don’t have to pay the excess at all.

Add Ambulance Cover

You can choose Ambulance cover to receive full cover for emergency road ambulance transport. You will also be fully covered for one non-emergency ambulance trip per year.
