GMF Health Premium Increases among the Lowest

The latest change in premiums by health funds has seen GMF Health emerge with one of the lowest average rate increases out of all Australian health funds.

This follows the trend of recent years, and with a premium rise of 4.66% GMF is below the industry average of 5.57%.

GMF Health is a fund known for its efficient service and simple processes and this year has pledged an extra $3.2 million to increase dental benefits for its members.

Like other health funds GMF Health announced its annual increase in premiums to reflect increases in healthcare costs, with claims rising by 9.1% over the last year.

GMF Health Operations Manager Fay Cappleman said the fund had worked hard to keep the increase to the absolute minimum.

“Our philosophy is to offer our members simple, straightforward health insurance at a fair price. We’re determined to provide great value for money.” Fay said.

“As a not-for-profit health fund, we have no shareholders, so the only reason for any increase is to be able to pay the benefits our members need.”

Increases in premiums for all health funds will take effect from 1 April 2011.
